“The shoe should look like it’s hugging your foot”-Embrace construction
OVERVIEW:
One of the first offerings for the newly launched performance line. Create a women’s crossfit shoe that can be used for lateral movements and cuts as well as light walking on a treadmill or pavement.
My role:
Research the biomechanics of crossfit training and identifying the key features that should be highlighted in this shoe. Deliver a tech pack along with merchandising maps for four colorways following the seasonal ‘23 color palette.
Brief: Create a women’s CrossFit shoe for the premium line for S/S ‘22.
Focus: 3 features of the shoe that should be prioritized are lateral stability, low-profile feel to the floor, and traction.
Persona: The Vionic Woman is a wellness seeker looking for a balanced sense of wellness through mind, body, and soul.
Exploration: The initial sketch exploration focusing on “hugging” the foot and a wider base to emphasize stability.
Features: Stability throughout the forefoot in the upper as well as 5mm offset for versatility in training. An added detail is the outsole wrap to help grip resistance bands.
Upper Concept 1: Fearless is the first upper concept to launch featuring a TPU heel cup as well as nylon webbing across the forefoot for more security and lock-down.
Colorways: Following the seasonal ‘22 color palette neutral Black, White, Grey, and Seasonal Blue.
